What do you mean you moved to a farm?

This is the most frequent question that people ask when we tell them what we've been up to lately. Sure, it's been a few years since we've changed our lives completely, but I'm still at a loss at how to answer this adequately. I mean, how do you convey to someone you've run into at the grocery store in less than three minutes all of the reasons why this was such a good personal move? Some people are great, they are so supportive. Others just can't seem to understand why the heck anyone would change their lives so dramatically.

What can I say, life was good, really good. We didn't have any reason to go out and look for any more happiness than what we already had. But living in the city all of our lives, we found ourselves going on weekend drives in the country. These drives became something we looked forward to, and they became longer and longer. Then they became something we did on both Saturday and Sunday mornings. We seemed to feel better when we found ourselves away from the city. It was hard to explain, we just kind of kept doing what we accidentally discovered we enjoyed doing. It was like this secret was out there for us to find at any time we decided to, and this secret was an answer to a question we weren't even asking.

Here we are sitting outside in the snow, enjoying a fire with Haze.

It seemed to say "Be present, enjoy every moment, simplify your life".

We had no idea how to begin this new life that chose us, but things fell into place extremely well. Our daily lives are enriched from being in nature, and our attempts at becoming more self sufficient. We went from being spectators watching from our mini van on weekends, to being every day participants. Please, join us on our journey.
