Wow! So much time has passed since the last post! Thank you for your patience. You know, it does seem like yesterday, yet also a lifetime ago that we last posted. Life seems to have gotten in the way of creativity. I'm happy to report that I am now retired from my full time (very stressful) position, and am able to enjoy the simple life (haha, simple?). I've taken the past few months to decompress and plan the next focus. As it's March already, that would be getting ready for planting in the greenhouse. Though oh my goodness, it needs attention and cleaning up. I'll be delving into that and seed inventory and planting plans in the next few months. Being as it's currently winter here, inside tasks finally get the attention they're due. I'm finally getting into a good groove and finding myself again, though two coffees (sometimes three) a day seem to help with that.
One son has left the house and another has come back and taken his place. We are still a multi-generational homestead. Mom and Dad are still in their place with us, and I can take them to appointments much easier now. I've taken to making large batches of food for them and freezing to enjoy later.
We are now a plant based household (though Mom and Dad and son, Justin, are not) for over five years now. I will get into the reasons for it and benefits we've noticed on another blog post. We are also alcohol free now (it's been a year and a half). So finding different foods has been my mission and making delicious juices from foraging around the farm has been rewarding.
My intention is to create a blog and you tube videos with our activities so you too can create your own homestead practices, whether you're in a small space or a large one. I by no means know everything there is to know about this way of life. Really, I'm just plugging along and happy to share my ups and downs with y'all.
